To Smoke the Right Way, 03/17/2009
I purchased this grill on Mar. 2nd, 2009. I've used the smoker 3 times so
far. Water in pan does not last as long 4 to 6 hrs as advertised, is like
1 to 2 hours.
Meat on back area of rack(s) tends to get hotter than rest of meat. Will need
to divert heat from water pan to back of smoker.

i have had this smoker for about 2 months now and have smoked all kinds of
food in it from jerky to brisket and all has turned out wonderfull.
PLEASE NOTE YOU MUST THROW AWAY THE THERMOMETER THAT COMES WITH THIS UNIT
IT IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE RIGHT TEMP READING.Once you replace the the thermometer
you will be very happy with this unit.

Good Smoker for the Price, 08/08/2009
This smoker does a pretty good job for a very good price. The doors didn't
fit very good as someone else posted, however after a little tweaking with
a block of wood, hammer, and a vise grip, the doors operate smoothly. After
all, the metal is thin, this isn't a $500 dollar unit. The temp gauge that
comes with the smoker is not accurate. I use a digital smoker thermometer
and there was about a 75 degree difference between the two. I also had a problem
keeping the proper temperature the first time I used it. After making sure
the burner tube was properly inserted at the valve(again some tweaking may
be necessary) and OPENING THE UPPER VENT, the unit reached temps over 300
degrees. First time I used it I had the vent closed thinking it would keep
the heat in, however it doesn't work that way. Water in the pan doesn't last
as long as stated, but easy to add more. Unit produced good smoke quickly
and lasts fairly long if you fill the bowl. I used wood chips, so I cannot
say how chunks will work. I am a beginner at smoking and bbq, but did some
research before making this purchase. It is easier to control the heat on
a gas unit like this, and that is one of the most important things when smoking,
remember LOW and SLOW!

Lousy product, 07/28/2009
This smoker does not reach high enough temperatures. Using the supplied water
/ wood chip bowl, it produces very little smoke. I ended up taking a rack
out and using the water bowl from my old smoker and just filling the one that
comes with the smoker with chips and no water. The drawer on the bottom sticks
and I have to shake it all over the place to get it open. I'm completely dissatisfied
with this product.

Poor Design, 09/12/2009
The water drawer is poorly designed. It steams the food more than smokes it.
In addition the supports for the smoke drawer have three tiny spot welds that
broke the first time I used it. Charbroil sent a replacement smoker box but
that required disassembling the original and reassembling the new one. The
new one broke almost immediately. I drilled holes in the drawer supports and
smoker box and bolted everything together. Now the drawer is properly supported.

cb600x-smoker, 07/13/2009
after putting this item together, figured i would smoke a whole chicken for
supper. after getting the water and the chips in , lite it up and procedded
to smoke . well water did the job but not to much smoke flavor. Also was hard
to get the heat to stay up or get up to 225, stayed at 200 the entire time.
after looking seems the water/chip drawer covers way to much of the flame
and the heat is hard to get up to a decent fast smoke range. i will be making
a different water/smoker pan and will write another review after that is done.
Thanks

Excellent addition to patio, 04/14/2009
This product cooks really well. The food that I have made with it has come
out delicious. So far Tri-tip, teriyaki beef and a smoked chicken all with
perfect results. It wasn't too difficult to put together either. It seems
that I have to add water to the tray quite often though, even on a low temperature.
I used the site to store and incurred no shipping costs which was wonderful.
All I had to do was go pick it up. I would recommend this product.
